Microtonic Import and Export for the PO-32
The PO-32 Tonic’s drum engine comes from Sonic Charge’s Microtonic, so Microtonic patches carry straight across. PO-PatchStudio reads and writes them in Transfer & Import, under Microtonic Import & Export. It reads all three generations of the Microtonic patch format, older patches included.
These are your own files. PO-PatchStudio doesn’t include or share any Sonic Charge content.
Import One Drum (.mtdrum)
Section titled “Import One Drum (.mtdrum)”- In the Studio, pick the sound you want to replace.
- In Transfer & Import, choose where the patch goes under Load Into: Morph A and B (the default), Morph A or Morph B.
- Select Load .mtdrum File, or paste the patch text into the box and select Parse Pasted Text.
The drum lands where you chose, and the sound takes the patch’s name, unless you loaded into Morph B alone.
Import a Whole Preset (.mtpreset)
Section titled “Import a Whole Preset (.mtpreset)”A Microtonic preset holds 8 drums, and the PO-32 has 16 sounds, so two presets make a full kit.
- Select Load .mtpreset Into Sounds 1–8 or Load .mtpreset Into Sounds 9–16 (on a phone, Load Sounds 1–8 or Load Sounds 9–16).
- Pick the file.
By default each drum goes into both Morph A and Morph B of its sound. Choose Morph A or Morph B under Load Into to fill one end and leave the other as it was. With Morph B alone, the sound names stay as they were. A message pops up to tell you how many drums loaded, and whether any were skipped.
Export
Section titled “Export”- Export Sound saves the picked sound as a single .mtdrum. A Microtonic drum has no morph pair, so only the A side is saved.
- Export Kit… opens Export for Microtonic. Microtonic has 8 drum channels, so the 16 sounds save as two .mtpreset files: sounds 1 to 8 and 9 to 16. They hold each sound’s A side. Turn on Also Export Morph B to save the B sides as a second pair, then select Export.
On desktop, exports save to your Downloads folder. On a phone, a kit export is one ZIP holding the presets. Patterns aren’t included. Export for Microtonic… is also in a saved kit’s or backup’s menu in the Library.
When you’re happy with the sounds, send them to the PO-32.
